Cheryl Anthony, Owner of Successful Learning Educational Services

Cheryl Anthony, MS Ed., Dyslexia Consultant, is Certified Master Tutor in the Barton Reading & Spelling System, an Orton-Gillingham influenced, simultaneously multisensory, explicit and systematic phonics program. She is one of only a small number of tutors certified at this level in the Barton System across the U.S.

Cheryl has extensive training in dyslexia interventions and assessment.  She has been trained in a number of other programs: Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program, Talkies, Visualizing/ Verbalizing, Wired for Reading, and LETRS.

Cheryl is a handwriting specialist, and has achieved Level 1 certification through Handwriting Without Tears for handwriting assessment and remediation. She has received training in all of the Handwriting Without Tears levels.

In addition, Cheryl provides instruction to help individuals who struggle with organizational challenges.

Cheryl has had the opportunity to work with and/or supervise a number of other tutors in several schools in the Portland Metro area. She brings this expertise to her team of tutors at Successful Learning Educational Services.

Having taught in both private and public school settings for 15 years as a classroom teacher and as a reading specialist, Cheryl is experienced in working with children of various ages and abilities. She was the Director of Academic Support Services at one of the largest private schools in SW Washington for six years.

Cheryl has also been very involved in serving the public through 6 years of service on the board of the Oregon Branch of the International Dyslexia Association, and is a past president of this regional branch.  She is a current member of this organization.  She has also spoken for Decoding Dyslexia- OR on several occasions and is active in support of this grass-roots parent organization.

Cheryl has a passion to see that individuals with dyslexia receive effective interventions so that they may be successful and productive in their lifelong endeavors.
