"…this system of help is working for Brooke!"

There are few things more agonizing for a parent than watching your child struggle and not know how to help them. We had tried a lot of different things before meeting Cheryl Anthony. Finally, with Cheryl’s help [using an Orton-Gillingham system] we are addressing the root of the issues that had been impeding Brooke’s ability to read and write. Brooke’s report card AND the fact that she now picks up books to read for pleasure both reflect that this system of help is working for Brooke!

"She listened intently to our story and I truly felt that we were being heard."

There are no words to adequately describe just how amazing this program has been for our family. By the time we found our way to Barton and to Cheryl’s services we were quite literally at the end of our rope. We had spent a total of 4 years and thousands of dollars on reading intervention programs that didn’t work. Well meaning but uninformed people tried offering advice. We heard everything from she isn’t trying and is lazy to we are encouraging her to not read by putting in her head that she has a problem. It tore at my husband and I daily and our daughter was distraught. It was as if each failed attempt and each unsuccessful month that passed took a piece of her with it. I vowed to not give up my search; to NOT give up on my daughter.

Chance led me to Cheryl and the Barton program. Upon meeting her, I immediately felt at ease. She listened intently to our story and I truly felt that we were being heard. After the testing was completed that confirmed our daughter not only met the criteria for Dyslexia but was profoundly dyslexic, Cheryl was very patient and thoroughly explained in detail both the results and the implications of Dyslexia itself. I no longer felt alone in our quest and struggle.

"…we often sit in awe of the progress."

Watching the changes in our daughter over the past year or so has been a tremendous experience. She has come so far in her ability to read and sound out new words that we often sit in awe of the progress. For all her progress in reading though, the greatest change in our daughter has been her opinion of herself and her confidence in her abilities. She has become someone that tackles new challenges with diligence. It is refreshing to hear her refer to her dyslexia as just another part of her instead of a setback or shortcoming, to her she is just another student—unique and exceptional in her own right. While it is the program and instruction offered by Cheryl Anthony that has aided our daughter in her quest to read; it has been the sincerity and personal nature of the tutelage that has created the confidence our daughter displays.

"What an emotional relief to finally have the answers we were looking for…"

Three years ago we were frantically searching for answers to our fourth grade daughter’s struggles. She was struggling much too hard to learn to read, write, and spell. No one at her elementary school seemed to have the answers, nor an approach that could help her learn to read like her peers. We were at a point of panic, not understanding what the problem was.

One day we happened on a website, Bright Solutions, and began to read about symptoms that sounded much like our daughter’s issues. We also learned that Cheryl Anthony was qualified to test for these issues and lived in our area.
